Guided tour
Almost 300 years of intense glassmaking in the Adelegg area left their mark. For many it meant a good income but also hard work.
The historical glass makers’ village of Schmidsfelden offers a unique atmosphere. Most of the original buildings still exist and are carefully restored, as is the massive factory building with its timber roof and wall construction. During the tour the functions of the buildings are explained, from factory to bakery and brewery - they were self-sufficient.
Learn how the glassmakers used to live and work in those times, between 1645 and 1898, and how the owner families came to great wealth. From alimony to tax and customs the glassmakers in those days had many challenges to overcome.
The historic tour through village and museum takes about 45 minutes.
